FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE takes an inspiring journey with the members of the "Spirit of Goodwill" band. The unique assembly of singers and musicians, all with a wide range of severe mental and physical challenges share the common factors of music and friendship. The film follows them as they reach to attain a higher level of performances with goals of playing to larger audiences. Each of the 29 members has varying degrees of disabilities from autism, down syndrome, blindness and other physical, mental and developmental challenges. Music participation has been a great catalyst in improving their lives and the lives of their families. Through inspiring concert footage and intimate behind-the-scenes glimpses into the band members’ lives, the film paints a heart-warming portrait of what people with disabilities can do when given a chance.
