Carefully composed images, impressing sound collages, no dialogues: MILLTOWN, MONTANA is an essayistic foray thru what used to be the biggest mining region in the USA. A splendid landscape, misused by mankind, today in a phase of post-industrial standstill. Without commentary Komers edits images of daily routine to a sensitive meditation on the melancholy rhythm of a place without perspective. The extremely artful montage of this film shows a lot without interpreting. It’s up to the spectator to find a stance and interpret the images individually. The stupendous film language as well as the visually compelling scenes of work and leisure fascinate and form an almost magical state.
