Little Dalva is hit hard by her mom’s death. Her father Jorge is a shadow of his former self – he works construction and is otherwise largely absent. When Aunt Cristina moves out, Dalva, inspired by countless horror movies, decides to face death head-on. Gabriela Amaral Almeida adores genre cinema. Her second feature is a sophisticated melodrama, full of magic, zombies and rabbits with sideburns.

She took the bold decision to take the road of the slowburner: a film that unfolds like a good novel, page by page, slowly drawing you in until the final reels. Gabriela Amaral Almeida, born in 1980 in Brazil, specialized in script writing during her film education. Together with Matheus Rocha, she directed several films including the award winning ONE SPRING (2011). In 2013, she formed a duo with Luana Demange and made the short film TERNO. In 2017, her first feature film THE FRIENDLY BEAST premiered at Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal/Canada.
