As the American Civil War breaks out, patriarch Edmond resolves to return to France with his wife and three daughters. Shady Victor is supposed to protect them on the risky trip to safe harbour in New York. Alas, he himself is being pursued by a lawless gang. David Perrault, born in France in 1976, studied Screenwriting at la Fémis in Paris. His first short film, SOPHIA, was released in 2006. In 2013, his first feature film, OUR HEROES DIED TONIGHT, was nominated for the Critics’ Week Grand Prize and the Caméra d’Or at Cannes International Film Festival. The film won the Audience Award at the 2013 Oldenburg Film Festival. SAVAGE STATE, his second feature, premiered at Rotterdam International Film Festival.
