Jan Soldat, born in 1984 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, today’s Chemnitz, studied Mathematical Economics before changing to Mechanical Engineering. After abandoning his studies, he went to work at a hospital in Chemnitz as a care assistant and realised his first films as a one-euro jobber in Chemnitz’ Kunstfabrik art centre. He subsequently studied at KONRAD WOLF Film University of Babelsberg. His over 100 mostly documentary works to date deal with diverse sexual preferences – and most recently with movie death.
