Melissa Chappes, illustrator and filmmaker from the Cologne area, completed her bachelor’s degree in communication design at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden/Germany in 2024. Prior to this, she spent a semester abroad at Loughborough University in Great Britain and worked on animation productions in the Stuttgart and Hamburg areas. In her graduation film GENIE IN A CAN from 2023, she combines her illustrative streak with analogue animation techniques. Since 2024 she has been continuing her studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in the field of motion design.
