Sharon travels from place to place, from person to person trying to understand, how has the Shoah impacted her father’s family. The past leads her always back to her own life, after all she is living in Germany. Little by little she also confronts her non-Jewish German environment.
The French-Israeli director Sharon Ryba-Kahn was born in Munich in 1983. She spent her first 14 years in Munich, before moving to Jerusalem in 1997. In 2001, she moved to Paris to study acting, she pursued her theater studies in New York under the direction of Mike Nichols. After having directed and acted in various theatre productions, she continued her education at the NYFA and studied Film Production. Her first feature-length documentary RECOGNITION came out in 2015 and was screened in over 20 film festivals worldwide. In order to improve her craft as director, she applied and got accepted into the prestigious MA program in Documentary Film Directing at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam/Germany.
