Alexander, an eternal bachelor with fleeting relationships and (bed) acquaintances, has never really fallen in love. But when he meets the variety artist Paula Clarin, he believes he has found the woman of his life in her. When Paula dies in an accident, all his dreams and hopes are gone. He gets to know her family and feels attracted to Marlene, Paula’s sister. Curious about each other, they exchange their memories (even the dreamed ones) and Marlene tells him about a Paula who is not at all like the woman he once learned to love. Through their shared grief for the same woman, the two lonely hearts come closer and Alexander increasingly loses himself between the two women and two loves: Who should he choose? The dead woman, of whom he only has a photograph, or Marlene, who is developing more and more deeper feelings for him?
