Up until 2016, Berlin’s Şehitlik mosque was a byword for an opening within German society. Interviews and sketch-like paintings document this moment in time.
Kirsten Kötter graduated in 1993 with a Master’s in art history from Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. From 1997 to 2002, she studied art in Kassel and at the Städel School in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2007, she has taught at several institutions and adult education centres; since 2013, she has curated exhibitions. She began working with the film medium as well as early as 2002. Since 2015, her work on her documentary series SITE SPECIFIC has taken her from Berlin and Frankfurt am Main to Finland, Italy and Poland.
