It’s a long hot summer in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In the multicultural microcosm around Kottbusser Tor, 14-year-old Nora carves her own path through adolescence. With the heat sticking to her skin, she gets her period for the first time, discovers her attraction to other girls and meets wild Romy. Life alongside the latter suddenly make the world appear infinitely big and full of hidden beauty – the park becomes a jungle, the swimming pool an ocean. Nora learns to be true to herself, and finally dares to try paths beyond those trodden by her older sister Jule’s clique. Alas, how can Nora preserve her openness to all this beauty after her heart is broken for the first time?

In the sensual imagery of KOKON, director and screenwriter Leonie Krippendorff tells an authentic Berlin coming-of-age story about budding emotions, sexual awakening and first true love. A film about wild girls emancipating themselves from the body images propagated through social networks.
