Jan Soldat, born in 1984 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, today’s Chemnitz, studied mathematical economics after doing community service, before changing to mechanical engineering. After abandoning his studies, he went to work at a hospital in Chemnitz as a care assistant and realised his first films as a 1€ jobber in Chemnitz’ Kunstfabrik art centre. He subsequently studied at KONRAD WOLF Film University of Babelsberg. His over 80, mainly documentary productions to date, examine the representability of diverse sexual practices and predilections.
