Beyto is a fantastic swimmer and cool dude. Alas, when the young Swiss man with Turkish roots falls in love with his attractive coach Mike, his idyllic world is turned upside down. Beyto’s parents only see one way to defend their honour and tradition: their son must marry a woman as fast as possible! So, they lure Beyto to their native village in Turkey on false pretences, for a wedding with Seher, his childhood friend. Suddenly, the young man finds himself in a love triangle that threatens to tear him apart: how can he stand by Mike without robbing Seher of her future?

Full of empathy and summery sensuality, Gitta Gsell tells a multicultural love and emancipation story. Alongside Swiss Film Award winner Dimitri Stapfer, the two discoveries Burak Ates and Ecem Aydin shine in their first cinema roles.

Gitta Gsell, born in Zurich/Switzerland in 1953, worked as an author and director for theatre and performances from 1977. From 1977 to 1979, she attended the F+F, School for Experimental Design, in Zurich, and from 1980 to 1982 she studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Since 1981, she has been writing screenplays and directing film and video productions. In 1984, she graduated from Hunter College, New York, with a Master of Fine Arts in Combined Media. She has lived in Zurich again since 1990.
