Sisters Sophie and Jessica were witnesses to a brutal crime as children. In the aftermath, Jessica promises the younger Sophie that she will always be there to take care of her. Alas, 20 years later what was once a promise has now turned into an obsession. While Sophie attempts to become a professional pianist and build a life free of fear, Jessica suffers from delusions and sees threats looming everywhere. Oliver Kienle, born in 1982, was already professionally active as an author, illustrator and composer in his adolescence. After A level, he first studied German in Würzburg, while doing internships and working freelance in film and video production. Since 2001 he has been writing and realizing short films and music videos. From 2004 to 2010, he studied directing at the Film Academy of Baden-Württemberg. His feature-length efforts as a director include CLOSER THAN BLOOD (2010), TATORT – HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH (2013) and FOUR HANDS (2017), which is his second film for the big screen.
