Luisa’s always rushing from one thing to another: from job to house, spouse to lover, peanut puffs to raw food diet. Who wouldn’t get overwhelmed eventually? One morning the couples therapist suddenly wakes to discover that she has a double. Seems she spontaneously divided overnight into the old Luisa and brand new Ann. On the outside, the two look absolutely identical, but apart from that they have zero in common. Luisa’s wound super tight and can’t stop thinking about everything under the sun. Ann is cool as a cucumber and stuffs herself with whatever tickles her fancy. When the initial shock wears off, Luisa recognizes the singular opportunity this odd predicament presents: finally she can run off with her lover Leopold (Benno Fürmann), while Ann takes care of her husband Richard (Charly Hübner). A perfect foursome, or so it would seem, at least until Richard starts to enjoy his wife’s new sides more than control freak Luisa is prepared to accept. That’s when the gloves finally come off and Luisa is forced to throw down for real with her spitting image.

Lola Randl studied from 2001 to 2006 at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and attended the Munich Screenwriting Workshop in 2007. As a student, she realized several short films and won diverse prizes. She made her feature-length debut with DAYS IN BETWEEN, which premiered at the 2008 Berlinale in the Perspectives German Cinema section. Further short films followed as well as her 2012 feature LONELY U featuring Mario Adorf and Fritzi Haberlandt. 2013 saw the theatre release of THE INVENTION OF LOVE, shooting for which began in 2011 and was interrupted by the death of leading lady Maria Kwiatkowsky. By deftly rewriting the screenplay, Lola Randl managed to keep both the original story intact and to create a bitter satire of the film business and a worthy memorial for her principal actress.
