An intimate comedy-drama about friendship, couple relationships, parenthood and the onset of a midlife crisis: On the Danish island of Bornholm, two families spend their traditional May-weekend together. At a prime beach location, the campers are parked and a tent is pitched for the three boys. But a delicate incident between the children upsets the idyll: what begins as an immature quarrel gradually develops into a full-blown fight between the parents. Soon the fragile relationships of the friendly couples are put to the test. Child rearing, midlife crisis and marital problems disturb the campfire peace.
FUCKING BORNHOLM was created after an audio book that deals with the topic of identity in a time when the patterns we know for living together hardly play a role any more.
Anna Kazejak, born in Bytom/Poland in 1979, is a Polish director and screenwriter. Before attending the National Film School in Lodz in 2001, she studied Film Theory for several years. In 2005, she and two of her school friends decided to produce a three-part film about the economic migration of young Poles – the highly acclaimed ODE TO JOY. In 2010, she made her first feature film FLYING PIGS. Her film THE WORD had its world premiere at the Berlinale in 2014. She is a member of the European Film Academy and the Polish Directors Guild. FUCKING BORNHOLM is her third feature film.
