Poised on the brink of retirement, the employment office is still forcing Joaquim to undertake dispiriting tours through the business world to provide definitive proof that no one is interested in hiring him any more. Call it “system requirements”. Be that as it may, possessed with a sense of inner peace the serene gentleman doesn’t let it faze him. On his strolls through sun-drenched Lisbon, he reminisces about his eventful years working as a taxi and limo driver in New York. Humorously and elegantly interweaving the internal musings of Joaquim aka Jack, filmmaker Susana Nobre succeeds in creating a wonderfully warm and grounded film about aging with dignity.

Susana Nobre was born in Lisbon in 1974. In 1998, she received a B.A. in Communication Sciences from Lisbon’s Nova University. Since then she started to make films that have been shown in festivals such as Cannes (Directors’ Fortnight), Berlinale and Rotterdam, among others. In 2006, she became a member of the production company Terratreme, where she has been working as an executive producer on several projects.
