Aralkum is a cinematic kaleidoscope of a desert landscape that used to be a lake. The Aral desert transforms into the waves of the former Aral Sea.

Mila Zhluktenko, born in Kyiv/Ukraine in 1991, studied Documentary Film at the University of Television and Film Munich/Germany. Her films have been screened at numerous filmfestivals and at the Museum of Modern Art, winning multiple awards.

Daniel Asadi Faezi, born in Germany in 1993, studied Documentary Film at the University of Television and Film Munich/Germany and at the National College of Arts Lahore/Pakistan. Besides directing he produces documentary and experimental cinema. His films screened at numerous filmfestivals including Locarno, DOK Leipzig and Visions du Réel. He is a Berlinale Talents alumni.
