Born in Wiesbaden in 1962, Ute Friederike Jürß studied Art under Daniel Spoerri from 1985 to 1990 at the Academy for Fine Arts in Munich/Germany. In 1992/93, she taught at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. She has received several awards and grants for her video works, including the Bremen Award for Video Art in 1995 and a New York scholarship from the Hessische Kulturstiftung. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad and is principally active in the fields of installation art and memory culture.
