Zora Rux’ feature-length debut takes us to a joyous wedding celebration and a newly in love, cooing couple: Julian, brother of the groom, and Marie. Marie is completely overwhelmed when her boyfriend Julian spontaneously proposes to her there. To get her thoughts in order, she flees to her home farm in the Uckermark/East Germany
But there she is taken by surprise by her personified thoughts, her “thought people”. Be it her mother, who lists baby names, a melancholic poetry-writing lady in a sari, or her ex-boyfriend, who climbs from trees. Everyone talks at her incessantly. Things get really complicated when Julian shows up there – with his own “thought people” in tow. ICH ICH ICH is a surrealistic story that coherently and humorously explores the resilience of a relationship and the search for the true self.
Zora Rux is a German filmmaker, born in 1988. She studied at the German Film and Television Academy and at the Columbia University in Berlin. Her short films were shown at festivals in Palm Springs, Austin, Montreal, Tel Aviv, Riga, São Paulo, Reykjavik and Tallinn. Having worked for Roy Andersson’s films several years as casting director, she teamed up with some of Andersson’s crew for her first feature, ICH ICH ICH. She is currently writing the script for her second feature, MEN BEHIND FAMOUS WOMEN.
