Kim struggles every day with fear, just to keep the ground beneath her feet. Her mother Lore was six when her own mom was sent to Auschwitz. Hidden, Lore survived. Now she copies newspaper articles onto index cards and archives them. She has never spoken of her experiences as a child. Kim wants to talk with her about her childhood, about her brother who committed suicide – and what triggered the speechlessness, in her and the whole family.
“LIEBE ANGST has become a small film, an important film, an intense film: a film that comes across as personal, in which souls are laid out very openly. It relates the extermination of the Jews, psychological wounds, family, contemporary history, and makes it possible to talk about all this.” (www.kino-zeit.de)
Sandra Prechtel was born in Munich/Germany in 1969 and has resided since 1991 in Berlin. Following studies in Comparative Literature, Film Studies and Political Science, she wrote for “jetzt” and “ZEIT” magazines and did an editorial internship in the cultural department at the broadcaster Sender Freies Berlin (SFB). Since then, she has worked as a writer and director of documentary films and as a book author, in addition to producing radio features and reports for radio and television.
Filmography (selection): 2008 SPORTSFREUND LÖTZSCH, 2010 DIE BALLKÖNIGIN, 2013 ROLAND KLICK: THE HEART IS A HUNGRY HUNTER, 2022 LIEBE ANGST
