The women’s road movie about Zineb, her daughter Inès and the kidnapped Asma takes us through the rugged red landscape and flowery valleys of the Atlas. Zineb was imprisoned for drug offenses, has a knack for robbery and theft, and is now on the run with a guard’s service weapon that she got hold of when she escaped.

She wants to rescue her eleven-year-old daughter Inès from the custody of the authorities and kidnaps her from the child protection center. Together with her, Zineb steals a van, which happens to have the forcibly married mechanic Asma at the wheel. For all three, the 800-kilometer drive across the mountains to the beach of Tan-Tan becomes an incredible adventure – always on the run from two national security policemen – that changes them and brings them together.

Yasmine Benkiran grew up on the Moroccan Atlantic coast. She studied Philosophy and Communication Sciences in Paris and gained her first professional experience in Buenos Aires, San Francisco and London before entering French National Film School La Fémis in the screenwriting workshop (l’Atelier Scénario). Since then, she has worked as a screenwriter, for both television and cinema productions. She also wrote two books about Morocco and a historical series of podcasts about Alice Guy, the world’s first female director. In 2018, she directed her first short film, WINTER TIME. QUEENS is her first feature film as a director.
