14-year-old Leonie is a successful teen influencer who lives on the outskirts of Berlin. Millions of followers are at her feet, and companies shower her with products. When Leonie’s parents recognise the enormous economic potential of their daughter’s social media activities, they quickly take over her management. They want Leonie to have a better life than they had. But Leonie’s life dictated by brands and pressure to produce content has a shadow side that the adrenaline, fame and free sneakers can’t make up for.

Susanne Regina Meures, born in 1977 in Mönchengladbach/Germany, is known for her films about pioneers and rebels who fight against political and social oppression. She studied Photography and Art History at the Courtauld Institute for Art in London and initially worked as an arts editor. After completing her master’s degree in Film at the Zurich University of the Arts, she made her feature film debut in 2016 with RAVING IRAN. In 2020, SAUDI RUNAWAY premiered at Sundance, and in 2022 GIRL GANG premiered in the international competition of CPH:Dox in Copenhagen/Denmark. She lives and works in Berlin and Zurich and is a member of the Swiss Film Academy, the German Film Academy and the European Film Academy.
