The ’70s in Romania: 17-year-old Ana goes to school, where she meets her boyfriend Sorin. All signs point to an imminent separation, as Sorin is supposed to leave the country soon. The young couple spends their last moments together before his departure. Ana wants to go with her pals to a house party at her best friend Roxana’s place, ultimately getting her way against her mother’s wishes. Her disappointment when Sorin fails to show up there eventually fades. The teenagers gossip, drink and dance to the music of the Woodstock era, before deciding to send a letter to the Radio Free Europe station. Unfortunately, the US-American broadcaster is under observation by Romanian authorities for pushing Westernization in Romania, a state of affairs that displeases the country’s political class. The youthful group must bear the consequences of its actions, as excessive as the former may be.
