Inspector Lemoine, more Hutch than Starsky, is investigating a murder case in a dodgy district of Brussels. Kalima Sissou, an occasional prostitute, has been murdered in her apartment. All signs point to Alain, a former butcher and her ex-boyfriend, except for his lack of recollection of that evening. Thanks to the discovery of a couple of French fries, a Tupperware tub and Saint Rita, Lemoine and his bunch of stooges will manage to charge Alain. Interpol, better watch out!
A joyful and dark crime documentary by the directors of the cult series STRIP-TEASE, which was well known for its unconventional and outspoken way of tackling sensitive issues in a politically incorrect manner. FOR A FISTFUL OF FRIES continues with this and takes us very close to the often incredibly mundane events.
Jean Libon, born in Antheit/Belgium in 1946, graduated from the Arts and Diffusion Institute in Brussels in the “image” section in 1970. From 1977 to 1985, he worked as image reporter for the documentary magazine A SUIVRE. In 1985, he created together with Marco Lamensch the documentary series STRIP-TEASE, which was broadcast for nearly 20 years on France 3 and on the RTBF.
Yves Hinant, born in Liège/Belgium in 1968, graduated in Journalism from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. From 1984, he was part of the STRIP-TEASE team; furthermore, he directed around 30 films and many documentaries.
Filmography (together; selection): 1985–2008 STRIP-TEASE (documentary anthology), 2009 KILL THE REFEREE, 2018 SO HELP ME GOD, 2021 FOR A FISTFUL OF FRIES, 2022 THE BRABANT KILLERS (documentary series)
Awards: AISGE Award (Gijón International Film Festival, Spain 2021)
