This film work references the artwork “Piano Garden” (1969–70/2022) by Annea Lockwood, which has been permanently installed in the garden of Nassauischer Kunstverein since 2022. Four years after its first installation, Christian Naujoks’ work depicts the condition of the piano and its surroundings. The film, shot on 16mm filmstock and transferred to HD video, is accompanied by audio captions in square brackets – text-based descriptions of sounds which relate to sensory and physical experiences. This creates an additional, distinct dimension of listening, although the film has no sound.
