Everything is going swell for 30-year-old Mira: she has a loving husband (a former rapper), two kids and now even her own supermarket branch. The required capital is provided by Robert, her mother’s ex-partner, in the form of an interest-free loan. Alas, soon everything starts to go wrong: her husband invests the money in a crypto fund and becomes a victim of fraud. And Robert wants something in return. Mira’s children are to be baptised to please Robert’s religious wife – which Mira feels compelled to hide from her Muslim husband. Mira can’t confide in her educated middle-class mother either, who believes that her daughter has “aimed low” with her career choice and marriage to the former MC.

In a moment of weakness, Mira can’t bring herself to tell the truth, and then everything comes crashing down around her. A film with a fantastic ensemble cast in search of happiness.

Franz Müller studied fine art and cybernetics at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and went on to complete postgraduate studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM). His feature film debut KEIN SCIENCE FICTION in 2003 has been followed by five further feature films to date. In 2016, he founded the company Mizzi Stock Entertainment with Eva-Maria Weerts. Since 2023, he has held a professorship in screenwriting for new narrative forms at KHM.
