Two rival gangs of children test their limits cliff-diving on France’s Mediterranean coast, clambering higher and higher up the spiky red outcroppings and throwing themselves headlong into the surging sea. “We don’t really care, right?”, they tell themselves. One of them climbs highest of all though: Géo, the flaxen-haired hero of the story, barely five years old, who’s not going to let anyone tell him what to do anymore. Wide-eyed, he drives his quad through the sunny landscape of the Côte d’Azur. On top of that, he’s got quite the crush on Eve – too bad her heart already belongs to another. Well, well – guess we’ll have to wait and see…

Friendship, love, jealousy, rivalry and freedom – Bruno Dumont, a heavyweight of philosophical cinema, whose late works frequently exhibit grotesque, comedic touches, sets off once again in search of cinema’s inner child.

Bruno Dumont is a French filmmaker who began his career in 1997 with THE LIFE OF JESUS, shot in his native Bailleul. The film earned immediate recognition at Cannes’ “Directors’ Fortnight”, receiving a Special Mention for the Caméra d’Or, followed by the Jean Vigo Prize. In 2021, he directed FRANCE, a Cannes Competition entry starring Léa Seydoux as a celebrity journalist navigating media, fame and private collapse. His 2023 film THE EMPIRE, a sci-fi-inflected satire set on the Opal Coast, competed at the Berlinale and won the Silver Bear Jury Prize.
