A man revisits his childhood through Super-8 footage. As the memories grow more surreal, a question emerges: what happens to us when our past can not only be remembered, but newly generated?
Erik Schmitt was born in Mainz/Germany in 1980 and grew up in Worms/Germany. After studying communication, he came to film via his work on advertising clips. His short films have won over 100 international awards. His signature style features handcrafted, analogue effects and constructed worlds. In 2018, he founded the production company Seven Elephants with Julia von Heinz, David Falko Wnendt and Fabian Gasmia. He lives in Berlin.
