Inspired by her own personal suffering, Verá plans to develop an app for female health along with her life partner André. The idea has huge potential; alas, they lack the cash to realise it on a large scale. A special event for connecting start-ups with venture capitalists seems like just the ticket they need. However, before attending, Verá pays a visit to a hypnotherapist in a last-ditch effort to quit smoking. A mistake, as quickly becomes apparent, for the hypnosis has unforeseen side-effects, and the weekend with the investors threatens to turn into a debacle.

With a great feel for comic situations and timing, in his first feature Ernst De Geer dives into the world of start-ups, which always seem to promise – at a minimum – to save the world while generating big bucks. Be that as it may: THE HYPNOSIS exposes the blowhards and wanna-bes.

Ernst De Geer was born in 1989 in Stockholm/Sweden. He studied Directing at the Norwegian Film School. His graduation film THE CULTURE from 2018 won prizes at several festivals around the world, including in Palm Springs and Angers. It was also nominated for the Norwegian National Film Award, “Amanda”. THE HYPNOSIS is his debut feature film.
