A winter weekend on the Isle of Skye: Kira sees Ian, and Ian sees Kira. For several seconds, their eyes lock. Neither of them suspects that this encounter will change their lives. Both are running away – from their pasts, but also from their current lives. A deep, almost magical connection arises between the two strangers, but, alas, fate tears them apart again, at least for the moment…

The two return to London, unaware of the fact that they inhabit the same city. Often separated from one another by mere minutes, metres and co-incidences, Kira and Ian move through the pulsing metropolis, never meeting. They must face their demons first, before they are prepared to truly face one another. With her directorial debut (featuring additional credits for screenplay and lead performance), Aylin Tezel has managed to create one of the most tender screen romances of the past years.

Aylin Tezel studied Acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, leaving the school, however, after her first year. Her break-through came with ALMANYA: WELCOME TO GERMANY, which screened in 2011’s Berlinale Main Competition. For her role in BREAKING HORIZONS (2012), she received the Best Actress Award at Torino Film Festival and the German Screen Actors Award for Best Up-and-Coming Actress. On German television, she achieved notoriety through her role as an investigator on “Tatort” and through the ZDF-neo series UNBROKEN. She gained her first experiences as a director of promotional and short films. FALLING INTO PLACE is her debut fiction feature.
