When author and journalist Augusto Góngora is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014, his wife, actress and one-time cultural minister Paulina Urrutia, begins to film their everyday life, in order to remember it together: the previous evening, the visits from the children, the lockdowns during the pandemic. Moments of happiness and helplessness. However, the two also reminisce about the country’s eventful history, about the many who disappeared and the struggle against silence and forgetting. With a profoundly empathic gaze, filmmaker Maite Alberdi accompanies the couple, whose humour, affection and tenderness in the face of an all-impacting illness are overwhelming.

Maite Alberdi is a Chilean documentary filmmaker. She was nominated for an Academy Award, and her films have been screened in more than 150 festivals. With all her projects, she has developed a particular style characterized by the intimate portrayal of small worlds. This hallmark has made her one of the most important voices in Latin American documentary filmmaking.
